Curriculum Information – Spring Term 1
Our focus for English this half-term will be poetry, persuasive texts and letter writing. We will be looking at the book “Dancing in the Rain” – John Lyons”, which will link to our topic of Different places, similar lives.
Over the next half-term, the children will be learning about Roman numerals to 100 and how the number system has developed. We will also be expanding our knowledge of fractions, geometry and area.
This half-term, our topic is ‘Different places, similar lives’. During this topic, we will be learning about different cultures and comparing this with the lives of ourselves.
We will do this will through researching, using technology.
In RE our focus will be ‘words of wisdom’. We will be looking at Sikhs, Christians and Muslims to give a broad picture and enable student to reflect on their own lives.
Continuing reading – It is essential that children in Year 4 continue to read at home regularly. Reading books should be taken home from school and changed on a regular basis.
During this half term, year 4 will be looking at dreams and goals. We will learn how to set achievable goals and improve our resilience.
Year 4 will have swimming on a Tuesday morning and will have indoor PE on a Wednesday.
If your children wear small studs for school, please ensure they are removed before school on PE days. Swimming and PE kit must be in school on these days.
Homework will be sent out on a Tuesday to be returned by the following Monday.
Friday 18th January – INSET Day (School closed to children)
Friday 15th February – school closes for February half term
Monday 25th February – School re-opens for Spring 2.
