Personal Development
At Ebor Gardens we focus on Personal Development (PD), which helps students learn skills for life.
PD teaches various abilities to help children handle challenges now and in the future. It gives them the knowledge and skills to manage themselves and be resilient. We include PD in all school activities to help students succeed in their personal, family, community, and societal lives. These skills prepare students for important opportunities and challenges in today’s world. PD also connects what they learn in class with real-life situations, making them feel secure and capable in their learning.
We build strong relationships in our school community, making personal and social growth central to learning. PD helps children become more confident and understand themselves better, so they can make good choices. By teaching self-awareness, empathy, and teamwork, we help students build positive relationships in all parts of life.
We teach important life skills in age-appropriate ways, such as:
- Cultivating self-awareness, empathy, and healthy relationships
- Education on Relationships
- Promoting healthy dietary habits
- Road safety awareness
- Online safety protocols
- Fostering mental well-being
Assembly Programme
A programme of assemblies based on our values-based ethos helps to promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development, and provide clear guidance for pupils on how to grow up to be the best person they can possible be. As well as the values assemblies, each term pupils also take part in:
- safeguarding assemblies,
- celebration assemblies
- music performance assemblies
- attendance assemblies
- British Values assemblies
PE/Sport Competitions, Clubs and Healthy Lifestyles
We provide pupils with a wide range of PE & Sport opportunities beyond the school day. We work with GT Sports to develop skills in a range of team games and offer our children opportunities to compete in a range of competitions, sports festivals and local cluster fixtures. After school clubs such as multi sports, Dance, football and Athletics further provide opportunities for pupils to develop sporting skills, healthy lifestyle and positive attitudes. In addition, we offer a wide variety of other clubs on offer such as: singing, cooking, crafting, Lego Therapy and more.
Visits
Throughout the school year, we are fortunate to have various visitors to help bring our PD curriculum to life, including visits from:
- The Police
- The Fire Service
- Dental Health
- Road safety experts
In addition to this, we utilise our Curriculum offer to inspire visits outside of school. Our trips are funded by parental donation and subsidised by the school. No children miss out on trips.
Anti- Bullying
Ebor Gardens Primary Academy promotes an environment free from threat, harassment and any type of bullying behaviour.
Our aims include:
- Ensuring all members of the school community have an understanding of what constitutes bullying.
- Creating an atmosphere and environment where children, parents and staff feel able to tell the school about bullying if it arises and are confident it will be taken seriously and dealt with.
- To put in place clear procedures for dealing with incidents of bullying.
For students facing challenges, we offer support through counselling services like Mindmate and the Thrive approach.
