Curriculum Information – Spring Term 1
Our focus for English this half-term will be story writing, sequencing events and re-writing our own story based on a super hero. We will be looking at the book ‘Traction man meets Turbo Dog’ which links to our topic of push me pull you.
Over the next half-term, the children will be learning about capacity, place value and nets of shapes. It is important that children continue to learn their 2, 5 and 10x tables and are able to recall them quickly.
This half-term, our topic is ‘Push me pull you’. During this topic, we will be learning about forces focusing on pushing and pulling. We will be exploring different ways on how this can be done and how the effects it can have.
In RE our focus will be ‘How Muslims worship’.
Continuing reading – It is essential that children in Year 2 continue to read at home regularly and their planner is signed. Reading books should be taken home from school and changed on a regular basis.
During this half term, year 2 will be looking at dreams and goals. We will learn how to set achievable goals both personal and academic.
Year 2 will have indoor PE on a Thursday.
If your children wear small studs for school, please ensure they are removed before school on PE days. PE kit must be in school on these days.
Homework will be sent out on a Monday to be returned by the following Monday.
Friday 18th January – INSET Day (School closed to children)
